My name is Michael Perkins and I am a recording engineer living in Pilsen on the near south side of Chicago. I've been a musician since 1999 and have recorder personally on over 25 different records for either my own projects or as a freelance studio musician. In 2005 I started to assemble my current recording studio setup and since then have pieced together a modest home recording studio. The studio in its current configuration is ideal for overdubbing, voice over work, mixing, and mastering. Since 2007 I've worked regularly as a freelance engineer at Shape Shoppe recording studio in the south loop, and have done several album recording sessions, as well as several commercial recording sessions for Rockit Projects, a small media company bases out of Chicago. In 2010, I joined Harold Arts artist residency as their resident recording engineer where I worked with hundreds of artist, musicians, and film makers on various different recording projects ranging from sound installion loop, sound effects creation, soundtracks, full length albums, live performance recordings, etc. and in 2012 I was named Music Director of the enti residency. In late 2012 my partner and I inherited the Reversible Eye Gallery in Humboldt Park in order to finish working on a large scale performance project that we had been collaborating on for several months, and ever since we have become very passionate about our rolls as gallery owners. She is the acting art director and I am the music director. Unfortunately, humboldt park was not a good fit for us, so we had to relocate in the summer of 2013 to Pilsen where we currently reside. Though our gallery in humboldt was great, it did not allow us to utilize the space in the ways we had originally hoped. Now our current gallery, Church of Templehead, allows for us to have a gallery in which to show and sell art from local artists, and also to have a seperate area for my recording studio, and piano studio.
